Hortiflor® is a peat moss substrate brand produced in Latvia. The packaging names NORD AGRI SIA, Skanstes iela 25, Riga LV-1013, as the responsible distributor; the Latvian company register lists Nord Agri SIA (reg. 40103841894) as registered in Riga on 3 November 2014, with SIA Hortimed reorganised into it on 2 February 2026. Nord Agri states that its production of peat moss and peat moss substrates began in early 2013. The material is raised bog peat harvested and bagged in Latvia, with liming, base fertiliser and a wetting agent already mixed in at the factory.
What we carry
- Hortiflor® Peatmoss — Latvian sphagnum peat in 70 L and 250 L bags, sold as a 40ft container pre-order. Two blends: Seeding TS 80/20 (extra fine, 0–5 mm) and Seeding P 30/70 (fine, 0–10 mm).
This is a pre-order line, not a stocked item. Minimum order is one 40ft container and the bags are produced for your order, so lead time and price both follow the blend and bag size you choose.
Hortiflor® Peatmoss
Both blends are 100% raised bog peat at von Post decomposition H2–H5, over 85% organic matter, with electrical conductivity of 15–50 mS/m measured to EN 13038 and bag volume declared to EN 12580. They leave the factory already limed with carbonate lime to pH 5.2–6.0 (CaCl₂) and already charged with 14-16-18 base fertiliser at 0.8 kg/m³, a wetting agent at 1 L/m³, Humus® at 2 L/m³, a micronutrient depot at 50 g/m³ and a slow-release 40N at 250 g/m³ — so the farm does no liming and no base dressing before filling.
The difference between the two is structure, and the maker ties each one to a container: the 80/20 is extra fine at 0–5 mm, 200–240 kg/m³, and is specified for all tray types; the 30/70 is fine at 0–10 mm, 220–260 kg/m³, and is specified for pots up to 12 cm. The 250 L bag exists in 80/20 only. Full technical data sheets for both are linked on the product page.
GACP
Suitable for GACP-standard operations and farms growing medicinal crops for export. Substrate analysis and SDS on request. Nord Agri is on the Responsibly Produced Peat register of companies participating in the RPP Chain of Custody, registration RPP-19-0120 (peat); that covers the company rather than every batch, so ask us to confirm RPP documentation against your consignment if your export file needs it. Every container carries its own phytosanitary certificate for that consignment, issued by Latvia's national plant protection authority; the cost is inside the quoted price.
Farms and resellers
